Video settings in Apex

  1. 01

    Display Mode: Full Screen

Full screen at your monitor's native resolution gives the lowest latency.

Settings › Video › Display Mode

  2. 02

    V-Sync: Disabled

V-Sync adds noticeable latency in a shooter.

  3. 03

    NVIDIA Reflex: Enabled + Boost

On NVIDIA cards, it cuts the delay between your click and the screen.

  4. 04

    Adaptive Resolution FPS Target: 0

Zero stops the automatic resolution drops that suddenly blur the picture.

  5. 05

Texture Streaming Budget to match your card

Pick a value below your graphics card's actual memory. Going over causes stutter.

  6. 06

    Shadows and lighting low

Sun Shadow Coverage and Sun Shadow Detail on Low; Spot Shadow Detail, Volumetric Lighting and Dynamic Spot Shadows Disabled. These are the heaviest settings.

  7. 07

    Ambient Occlusion: Disabled

A purely visual effect that's heavy on performance.

FPS cap

You can cap FPS through launch options in Steam or the EA app by adding +fps_max and a number, such as +fps_max 144. Set it near your refresh rate or slightly above, for steady performance without spikes.

Prepare Windows

  1. 08

    Game Mode

Prioritises Apex when other apps are running.

Settings › Gaming › Game Mode

  2. 09

    Close background apps

Browsers, recording and sync apps compete with the game for CPU and memory.

  3. 10

    Correct refresh rate

Make sure Windows runs your monitor at its highest supported refresh rate.

Easy Anti-Cheat and your account

Everything above is an official game or Windows setting. Avoid any tool that edits game files or injects into the game; that's what Easy Anti-Cheat detects.

Questions gamers ask

No, as long as they only change official game and Windows settings. Bans come from editing game files or apps that get inside the game.
