PUBG PC Tweaks: More FPS and Clearer Vision, Safely

In PUBG on PC, the biggest gains come from the right graphics settings and a prepared PC, not from modified files that can get your account banned. Here are the steps in order, with what's worth lowering and what's worth raising.

Graphics settings inside PUBG

  1. 01

    Fullscreen and an FPS cap

Fullscreen mode, an FPS cap at your refresh rate or a little above, and V-Sync off.

    Settings › Graphics

  2. 02

    Screen Scale at 100

Lowering it raises FPS but blurs the image and makes distant enemies harder to see. Only go lower if your PC is very weak.

  3. 03

The heaviest settings on Very Low

Post-processing, shadows, effects and foliage on Very Low: the heaviest and least useful, and low foliage exposes players hiding in grass.

  4. 04

    What's worth raising

Anti-aliasing and view distance on medium or higher, since they make enemies and edges clearer. Turn Sharpen on and Motion Blur off.

  5. 05

NVIDIA Reflex if you see it

Cuts the delay between your click and seeing it on screen.

Prepare Windows

  1. 06

    Game Mode and power mode

Turn on Game Mode and choose Best performance as your power mode.

Settings › Gaming › Game Mode

  2. 07

    Update your graphics driver

An old driver is one of the most common causes of low PUBG FPS.

  3. 08

    Close background apps

Browsers, recorders and sync apps take CPU and memory, and PUBG is heavy on both.

  4. 09

    SSD and memory

Installing the game on an SSD cuts loading stutter, and 16 GB of RAM is far more comfortable than 8.

Watch out for “FPS unlock” files

Files and apps that promise higher FPS in PUBG by changing the game's files or protected settings are everywhere. That's modifying the game itself, it can get your account banned, and some carry malware.

Every step in this guide is an official game or Windows setting and never touches PUBG's files.

Questions gamers ask

Official game and Windows settings don't. Bans come from modifying game files or apps that inject into the game, including many “FPS unlock” files.
